I didn't find any today...


I have never had problems with them, but you must use the "cloves" quickly as they rot rather than dry. Mild garlic taste nice in salsas...

well, the first of this year's new potatoes are planted.  in pots in the greenhouse.


went to town and noticed that poundstrether were selling 50 cm pots for £2.99. 

they were selling them as I've now got the lot Cheesy  all 8

Take one indoors, turn out the lights, then shine a torch close to one wall of the pot. If light gets through to the inside you risk green spuds... so line with thick black plastic (eg compost bags).

A lady down our way was sick as a pig after eating her own green spuds...

Me too, but over recent years the pots have been getting thinner with less pigment (recycled PET bottles usually) and so the problem has arisen.

Growing spuds in stacks of old tyres is a great method, just keep adding tyres and compost as the greenery rises....
