Tomato blight.... no toms in that ground for about 5 years now  Undecided The spores tend to stick when the leaves or fruit are wet... and the plants die within days.... do not compost them... bin them ASAP!!

Sooooo sad  Undecided

Any other plants nearby MAY look healthy, but the blight is a bugger... so they must be inspected every day...

Once it takes hold in an area, it is lethal for years... I've had mates lose plants in conservatories, closed porches and greenhouses too...

just passing on the thanks for the advice Taf.   Healthy looking toms have been removed to a windowsill in the hope hey ripen.  not holding my breath.  I've still got 11 plants in the greenhouse at my parents' and two outside (not a success, a fifth the size of the indoor ones) and it's only 200m from the infected plants.   Sad  Never seen blight there in 40 years  Shocked.  must be the damp weather

You could strip ALL the leaves off plants with green tomatoes... this will reduce the risk of blight whilst allowing the toms to ripen... or do as I have just put the toms on a bench outside and let nature run it's course. If you bring them indoors, place them in a bowl... one layer deep... with a banana.... and watch for signs of blight marks appearing.

The Oospores (?) can love in the soil for years.... and unless you sterlise the entire neighbourhood soil, they will reappear...

got the same idea. all but the top leaves stripped from the older plants that have fully set toms.   the latest lot that still have flowers on are partially stripped.  the only good news is that the door of the greenhouse is against the prevailing wind.  the slightest sign of blight and the outside ones go though as the ground is wanted for pots in two years
