The sudden cool nights have really slowed down the french climbing beans, so I just went out and did a harvest and composted all the plants except for those in the big tub.

As I did so I found lots of yellowing cucumbers, so they got put aside for seed and the plants onto the compost too.

The greenhouse toms have stopped too, so as soon as the last of their toms have ripened, they'll be out to, making space for a few chilli plants in tubs outside that need a shot of warmth.

I put a red Prairie Fire chilli in my mouth..... ATOMIC ALERT! And those were the outside ones!!!

4 fat slugs went to meet their maker.... they have been almost absent this year, replaced by huge snails. Wasps are back again though.... and ladybirds and aphids have been a rarity.....

I have runner beans to harvest over the next few days, leaving a few pods for seed for next year...

I have only HAD to mow the lawn 5 times this year!!

Compared with approx 20 times every other year, this is strange! Neighbours have noticed the same thing.

oops indeed.  beyond repair I'm afraid.  Broken brackets and bent tubes galore. The plants will just have to take their chances outside.

It was nailed down well enough to stop it flying away but the frame broke.   Just seen a 6x6 polycarbonate one for £240.  Must keep telling myself thaat the beer token shop manager is not happy with me.

6x6?

GO 6x8!!!

Minimum!!

And build it up on a breezeblock frame (easy peasy) to give you more headroom/growing room.

I'd love to know the actual layout of your garden.... perhaps there is space for a lean-to against that lovely, heat-retaining stone wall...

Bad news 1 : all concrete

Bad News 2: pic 433:  The stone wall (with the 1300l oil tank on faces North.  I wanted the tank in the corner but I got home to find it there and full of oil - Idiots.  An  eight foot run from the far wall gives a drop of two inches or so.   I'm still battling ivy growing through the wall on the left at the back

pic 434: partially cleared showing the 6x4 footprint of the dead tent

pic 435: another view

Went into the greenhouse and spotted loads of sooty mould... so cleared out the last of the tomatoes and cleaned off the sweet peppers.... then found what brought the mould in.... bleedin' masses of aphids!! Had a good squishing session....

The courgettes are finished too so filled the compost bin with their waste....

Have just been harvesting tomatoes, onions, garlic, sweet peppers, courgettes, chillis, thyme and oregano... and there's still loads left and still ripening!!!

I have collected seed from the tomatoes (ferline), sweet peppers (big banana), courgettes, chillis (pinnochio's nose, cayenne, prairie fire, jalapeno and cheyenne) and leeks (bluegreen)....

Something is eating all my leeks  Angry

I weedfeeded the lawn the other day... time to give it a trim now, but that sun is too hot!!
