It's sowing day... using John Innes compost for a trial this year.

Sweet peppers, 4 types of tomato, 3 types of leek, pumpkin, 2 types of courgette, 2 types of cucumber, mammoth red onions, giant sunflowers, kidney beans, french climbing beans, yard-long beans, prairie fire chillis, little gem lettuce, cress, basil, garlic chives, cress (for compost)... and beetroot, long radish and spring onions went in straight to the raised beds in niches between the onions and garlic.

Sowed catmint, cayenne chillis and a few peas in pots. My mum gave me loads of Welsh Poppy seeds so I've flung them around the flower beds.

I noticed that the thornless blackberry is going in full growth, so I have some tying-in to do later.

Both raspberries are just dead sticks so far.... Undecided

A female blackbird wandered accross the lawn pulling up leatherjackets... good girl!!

I have planted the dual cherry and dual apple, plus 6 hostas they sent for free.

I've had to email them though as the dual pear was missing, and the other trees are advertised as "6 ft tall" but arrived at 3ft and 4ft...... and had already burst their buds before despatch (7 days ago on 48 hour rush delivery) so are totally dessicated  Undecided

Lots of green thumb required I think.

They also sent 20 double begonias for some reason? Huh

The tree suppliers emailed to say they can't get any more dual pear trees this year.. and they've given me the dual cherry for free after the courier admitted they took a week to deliver on a 48-hour-rush contract.

If it's going to survive, this deluge will help.

Much sprouting in the grrenhouse!

I would have thought he would have noticed as he crawled across it?

Buy him a Guinness plant and watch him turn into a gardener.... Wink
