AB's versus South Africa

This will be a proper workout for the All Blacks after the relatively soft start to the international season of a France 'B' side and Canada. The Wallabies actually did us no favours by taking the Springboks so close last week. A fired up and newly confident Jappie unit at home will be a different encounter to the 3 opening games where, you would have to say, the scoreline flattered the AB's who won in spite of their apparent lack of a cohesive game plan and in the face of many basic errors. Surprisingly, a few pundits who are often quick to slate the AB's are picking them by 10 points or more. Hope they're right!

Well it looks like tonights game in SA will be played in fine conditions. Being at sea-level will help the AB's and I think we are going to need every advantage we can get. Really hope the re-hashed AB's get their A-game going tonight and the injury forced replacements can slot into the team patterns. SA have also been hit with injuries after last weeks clash with Australia and this brings the teams to more of a level pegging. Irishman Alain Rolland will referee tonights Test Match and under him the Springboks have lost 4 out of 5 encounters... He seems to be a referee who allows the game to flow, without blowing too many penalties, so that will suit the AB's style of play. Hopefully AB's by 10 points...

Well, half-time, AB's 6 Springboks 11. Quite a bruising encounter, so far. A lot of offside play by the home team is going unpenalised. Referee has warned the Boks about 3 times for constant offending but is doing nothing about it. If Dan Carter had his kicking boots on, it would be 12-11 in our favour. AB's seem to be stringing some plays together late in the first half so hopefully they can improve...

Holy shit! What a nail-biter... Down and out until the last 20 minutes when their fitness told and the AB's ground out a come from behind win. AB's handling and ball retention does look suspect at times, something to work on I fear... Still, we'll take the win...  Full time score AB's 26  SA 21.
