Plenty of fluids.  (Yes, isotonic sports drinks DO work better.)

Train for a longer distance than you're going to run.  Make 'Train hard, run easy', your motto.

Don't be stupid and ignore pain greater than the usual aches you'd associate with running, or you'll end up having surgery.

Wrap up after every training session.  No matter how hot you feel.

ahh thats right, i remember now.. Must have enjoyed it if you are doing it again Cheesy

Yeah, we sure do!

I always say the hardest part of biking is getting off the couch and doing it.  Once we get past that, we feel like we can do anything.

True, I find the first 2 or 3 miles is the worse, but it is uphill for me, and then I get going.

It's strange when the weather is to bad at the weekend I really miss it

It is uphill to get out of our subdivision, but then we have an awesome downhill after that first mile and a half.  Of course, all of that is reversed on teh way home.

Me too.  Although we could have done a "real" ride today but the weather has been really weird.  My weather ticker is screaming storms and rain, but we just had one small shower so far today.  One moment the clouds look pleasant and the next like they could open up at any second.  Huh

My first big downhill is after about 3 miles the killer up hill is about 9 miles in, I usually have a drink ½ way up  there, and as it's a circular route I don't repeat hills

Jim hates hill and will choose a dangerous road before a hilly side street which I don't like.

So do I.  I'll keep up a steady thirty to forty miles an hour, on the flat, but get off, if the gradient looks too steep.  I'm doing it because I enjoy it, not because I'm competitive.

I enjoy the hills for the challenge and Jim and I are finding we're improving at them.  Although Jim will still hate them as long as he lives.  Smiley

Horses for courses....  You'll never make a sprinter out of a long-distance man, and you'll never make a hill runner out of a flat man.

Doing 10km plus in half an hour now on the bike..
Still haven't managed to go out running yet. But the plan is to start next week, just can't seem to get myself a route I am happy with. I know i'll get bored lapping a footbal pitch!
