I just got back from biking the route we mapped out for ourselves for the Urban Assault Race.  I biked a total of 40 miles as I did this from our house, but I'm estimating the actual race route will be closer to 25 miles.  We'll be driving the bikes to the start/finish of the race since we'll have a lot to drag home and I'll want to take my contacts out when we finish and put my glasses on.  (My tolerance for my contacts has really gone down in recent months, but that's another rant.)

I'm glad I did it too.  I found some back paths that we'll take, noted that some of the roads are crap because they don't have bike lanes and surveyed the checkpoints as to where the obstacle course might be set up so we can do our best to get to each of these as efficiently as possible.

We did these personality profile things at work back in May and I'm off the charts for planning!  Hopefully that will be my strength for this race.  They say often the most organized, not the most fittest, wins.

Hey Everyone --

Remember our discussions on text messaging and the fact I just didn't "get it"?  I got some good feedback here and understand the appeal a little better.

I'm bringing it up here because part of the Urban Assault Race Jim and I are participating in on Sunday, we have to complete a quiz.  The better we do, the sooner we can start the race.

Well, sure enough there is something there that has to do with text messaging and I'm trying to find someone to do the task for me.  Part of it is so we don't incur a cost sending/receiving the message and the second part is the hassle factor of signing up for this Pinger service.

So, basically I'm asking for a favor when I don't even think I owe any of you one!!  Here's the question with the link:

5. If you haven't already done so, go to http://www.pinger.com/content/promotions/urban_assault_race_denver.html and sign up for the free Pinger service. Send your teammate a Pinger message. After listening to your message, what is your teammate prompted to do?
a. To skip press 2
b. To hear again 1
c. To reply press 3
d. To forward press 4
I have no idea if this is a US thing only so it might be a moot point.  If any of you are able to do this for me, could you PM me the answer instead of posting it?  Don't want to give my competitors an unfair advantage if they find the answer here.  Wink

The full quiz consists of 20 questions and some are harder than others.  At the moment I have 12 of the 20 figured out.  The quiz was in my e-mail when I got up yesterday at 4:30am and we started working on it right away because we already had planned to skip the gym and biking to work because I had some other business to take care of.

The quiz is due at 5pm tomorrow (not sure if that is CDT or MDT), but regardless, that would be Friday late night for the UK bunch.  We are likely taking Friday off work to work on it further and get some other stuff done.  Otherwise the deadline for us would have to be tonight when we go to bed!!

And finally, Go Team 5-Speed!!  (That's the name for our "team" that we came up with.)  Smiley

   Sorry, Kris.  It won't do it for me at all.  I think it's US only.

Looks like you choose your own PIN and on the next screen it says it's US only like Spite said.  Undecided  I asked me sister to do this task for me, but I just hate the thought of troubling her too.  So, either I just get it done myself or guess.  Sad

Besides that Pinger task, this is the other question we're really struggling with:

11. Where does Keen Footwear recommend you stand? (Check all that apply)
a. On your head
b. In your heart
c. On your hands
d. On Trails

This is the website http://www.keenfootwear.com and they are running a contest called "Stand", but I can't find anything referencing those phrases.

What led you to B?  And remember, there could be more than one answer.

I'm debating about submitting it now just so it's done.  We're going to go biking today of course and although we should be back well before 5pm when it's due, it would be horrible if we missed the deadline after all the effort we put into it.

For this one, we're making a very educated guess of C "To reply press 3".  B doesn't make sense since it doesn't use the word "press" and replying is something this company would want you to do to keep you using their service.

because the moral of the company seems to be caring, and giving

plus it is the only one that says IN and not ON.
they can't encourage people to stand on their hands, or their heads as they wouldn't get anything done. and stand ON trails? wtf? that makes no sense.

Stand in your heart doesn't make much sense either but it fits better. IMHO

and i'd say C for that one too.

On this page they have three key words that in mind mind translates as follows:

Create ==> Hands
Play ==> Trail
Care ==> Heart

Everything else on this damn quiz has been straight forward, we're really grasping at straws on this one.

Well, we submitted the quiz and got 31 out of 41 points.  Undecided  I'm not super happy considering the effort we put into it, but maybe it will still give us an edge.
