Do cats or dogs make better pets and why?

Dogs do.  They're loyal.  Cat's are just murderous little barstewards.  I think anyone who anthropomorphises them, has serious mental issues.

aren't humans murderous?

I prefer cats as they are much much easier to look after, and cleaner..... when they aren't slaughtering something in the house?

Yes, but most of us learn not to be.  I'm not saying don't keep cats, just don't award human attributes to them, that they most certainly don't posses.

That's it.  Once a Dog has accepted you, it will never desert you for as long as you live.  Or after.

Dogs crap anywhere, stink when they're wet, make too much noise and need to be "walked" to often...

Cats just eat, sleep and scratch .. and let you know that you're a good person by sticking around.... a bit like women....

We might get a dog in the near future.

SIL and BIL are separating- she's keeping the dog.  I'm sure at some point she's going to have to move someplace that won't allow dogs.

Told a certain someone that we wouldn't take the dog if that happens.  Guess who already offered??  Roll Eyes

We've had both.  I like dogs for their companionship and fun- cats are waaaay easier to take care of.

That being said, I don't want to ever have either one again.  Having had to put both pets to sleep, I don't ever want Pammie to go through that again.  It was heartbreaking.

This is what I see happening- we start taking care of the dog.  Everyone gets attached to her.  After a year or two the situation changes and SIL wants the dog back.  I wouldn't want anyone in my house to have to go through that separation anxiety again.

aaaah when I told our mega that I would not have a dog again because I didn`t want to go through he heartbreak when it died, she told me I was daft and in a way she is right ..........put that way it is daft to deny yourself the companionship of a dog and a good home for one from the animal shelter just because it will die ..........course it will , we all will .
But I would never like to go through it again  Undecided
Never say never tho  Grin
