Okay, I'll give you that.  If we can't get Russia to back away from their support, it would be a bad move, yet something has to be done to stop Iran, else we're going to see Iranian mushroom clouds over quite a few cities in the not too distant future.

Certainly not while Putin is in power.  Unlike Yeltsin (and even, to some extent, Gorbachev), Putin has dreams of rebuilding the old Soviet empire.
