Do you do that?
Is that a dying gesture?
If you want to meet someone, do you go up to him/her, introduce yourself and shake hands?
Is it more of a male thing?

I only do it, when it is offered. That usually happens in an official capacity, like job interviews and similar.

I don't like to shake hands, and rarely do it.  You never know where those hands have been.  Also, too many people who should know better, go in for intricate handshakes, that leave you feeling daft.

It's the way to greet in France... and the last time I did it was to congratulate the neighbour on passing his exam.

In a professional capacity, yes.  I think it is a great way to get a feel for a person.  My Grandad was big on BIG handshakes so I think it stems from that.

I'm the same and Lisa, Izzy and sabell.  But I hate the "no effort" handshake. A good grip always determans what kind of character they have, well to me it does
