Plus I probably wouldn't fly from Gatwick.

No one in their right  mind would fly from Gatwick if there was an alternative

We had no problems flying from there- it's really convenient for us with the train station.

Get off the plane- jump on the train and up to Luton.  Really nice and easy.

Chances are, next time I fly over to visit, I'll be going through Gatwick, since that's where the cheap flights from the US land, and the current budget research shows that flying Buffalo-JFK-Gatwick and then taking the train to Cardiff would be cheapter than hopping a train from Buffalo to Toronto and flying direct...

Officially, it's illegal for me to go to Cuba, so long as the commies are in power...  Sad

Of course, plenty of Americans do go, they just have to go via somewhere else (usually Mexico).

That's why it's the best place to go to in the Caribbean, it's mostly us and the Canadians

Area 51 (or any other location that has hush hush things)

There is a sign in Essex that says "Secret Nuclear Bunker" (see attached pic!) - we drove past it when the M25 was stuffed last year - hubby nearly crashed we laughed so much - not very secret then!
 laugh  laugh  laugh

My 4 home choices are -
Lake District, really beautiful scenery
Scotland - same reason basically, plus my dad is Scottish
Northumberland (never been there)
Ireland (never been there either)

Away choices -
Canada - I've been to Niagara Falls and they were amazing, in March I'm off to the Rockies (again!)
NZ - because its there - and looks amazing in the pics
America - hubby wants to see Mount Rushmore (!) before he dies... I want to see the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone...
Sri Lanka again - this time to see all the best bits we missed due to lack of time when we married there in 2006
