Bought a new printer today. HP4180. Installed as per manual. About 40 or 50 megs downloaded from installation disc. Heaps more downloaded from HP site. Works perfectly except for the fact that when the printer is turned on, the pc cannot be started. Won't boot up at all. When printer is turned off, it will start properly.  think  Aside from that it works 100%.  Roll Eyes

I think the printer is sucking all the electrons into itself, not enough left for the PC  Roll Eyes

I've just looked that printer up, and I'm pretty sure it's the same one my Brother In Law has.  He had a similar problem, with his old PC.  Works fine on his new one, though .  Huh

If it's the all in one I've got the same one, no problems here though and my printer is on all the time, so it seems a strange one but I've found this on the HP site http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bpu00737&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=1141647&dlc=en&lang=en

Check the BIOS isn't set to boot from a USB device.
