it's better than feisty.
The way it handles graphics cards is much much better. There is a dedicated graphics and monitor program now that allows you to select precisely what it has. It also has better screen res and frequency options.

Still need to fiddle a bit BUT i have the radeon card work fine now, which is a damn sight more than i managed on Feisty.

seems faster and smoother too.

Gonna do a bit of fiddling later, but if i can get wireless up and running there'll be no holding me back.

it works fine with homehub via a LAN cable doesn't need setting up at all, it just works.

wireless (when it works) is good but isn't always as fast as it could be. LAN or USB is definately faster.

Solved my ATI issue, i had a conflicting package installed. This means my ATI now works perfectly.

The way they have changed the handling of graphics cards is way better than before. Much more comprehensive, and a variety of drivers preinstalled.

I can't get my wireless up, but that is no suprise when BT won't do drivers for it.
I've read on Ubuntu forums that it is possiblew to hack, but since i have a working lan cable i'm not going to fuss.
If i want to go wireless though, i will buy a well known card first.
For a beta version it is brill, there are updates all the time though, but it is stable as anything.

i love it brains, it is better. Thats what all my posts above are about, i know i was using it as a beta but it is just the same as a full version.

My live discs haven't come yet, but i'm not in any hurry. They are handy to have though.
I can rescue a failed windows PC with them, as you can mount a drive to rescue the info. It is BRILL!
Windows should look into a similar thing. How many times has someone lost something on windows as they had no way to recover thier data when they had to format....... it would have saved my neck a few times if i had know you could do it with an ubuntu cd!

i don't see why not.

Thats what i did, well i put the stuff i needed to keep on a waferdrive and put it in my home folder when i was all installed. I didn't keep it all, as it wasn't all worthy of keeping. I also had a back up put on our other PC just in case i needed something that i had deleted hastily.

I did have to get media codecs, but i haven't done a clean install since edgy, and there have been 2 new versions since that, so don't know if you would have to get them.

How big is you hard-drive brains?
maybe a partition and dual boot would be better?
I rarely use my windows partition, but i know it is there if i need it. Kids use it sometimes to play their games.
Wine is o.k for somethings and virtualbox is pretty good, but i figured if i had to go through the motions of installing windows on a virtual drive to do certain stuff i may as well add a small partition and do it there. As good as virtual box is it does have some limitations.

i'd definately partition that, you could do a decent 40gig partition for windows out of that, which is more than ample unless you intend to use windows the most.. in that case give linux the smaller partition?

I assigned 20 to mine as i only have a small 80gig, and thats not really enough.

I'm wary of dual-boot Lisa as I hated it when I tried it with Feisty
but have asked Ubuntu forums for their suggestions too so will
see what they suggest lol

They'd tried help me get it sorted with the feisty dualboot but I
gave up in the end and just reinstalled windows Shocked

it is easier if you install the windows partition first, then the linux one
