Everything appears to work first time, Ubuntu has identified every bit of kit In my box, and has the drivers for them.  Brilliant.  Haven't tried my camera yet, though.  Now then.
Any one recommend a good mp3 player, and what will I need to play avi, wmv, and asf files?  (that's if I can run them at all.)

Do you think I'm going to have to use emulation, for video files?  I want to keep it as Windows-free as possible.

If your BIOS is similar to mine, you won't need to worry about dual-booting.

If I hit F11, on boot, I get a selection of devices to boot from.

Doddle.

you're outdated Wink
with ubuntu 7.04 there's no need for automatix..

go to the add/remove thingy.. set filter to show all available.. then type in ubuntu..
there's Ubuntu Restricted Extra's package ^_^
it'll install and configure java, flash, codecs, fonts, everything
