Denial of service in Apache mod_ssl -   Oxygen3 24h-365d, by Panda Software (http://www.pandasoftware.com)

Madrid, January 9, 2006 - Security Tracker has reported a vulnerability in Apache mod_ssl, which could allow a remote attacker to crash the server.

The problem occurs when an SSL virtual host is configured with access control and custom 400 error document. An attacker could send a specially-crafted request to trigger a null pointer deference, which could cause the server to crash when using the multi-processing module.

Although Apache has not yet published a solution for this problem, some Linux distributions, like Red Hat Enterprise Linux, have released a fix for this problem.

More information about this flaw is available here:

Linux users get a lot of this sort of stuff, so I understand.  I have a friend who's spent years trying to convert me, and his machine is down more mine was, even running ME.

got an old p.c waiting for my father to collect it, it is running '95, i'd forgotten how shit it was. Unfortunately the machine is too old and shit to get anything better on there. (he only wants it for word processing)

Exactly.  It didn't last long.  I run XP now, but I've still got a fondness for '98SE.  Hell, I've even got a P1 upstairs running MS-DOS.  I've been trying to get the kid's heads around a CLI, but no pretty pictures, no interest.

I built Jane's machine for the princely sum of seven quid. That runs XP, no sweat. Grin

One thing that XP does very badly, DOS. It's only emulated, sadly. Still use it a lot, though.

If I want to do DOS stuff, on my IBM-compatible, I tend to load up my Amiga emulator and do it, there. AmigaDOS is/was much, much better than MSDOS ever was.

Even on an IBM-compatible!!

Can't say I know much about the Amiga.  I only got into computers with 8086 architecture IBMs.  IBM-compatible machines have been pretty good to me.  They've kept me entertained, bemused, and even provided me with a living for a few years.

I'm convinced that the Amiga would've been where the IBM-compatible is, today, or even far beyone it, if Commodore hadn't had such a pathetic marketing team.

Still have my old A1200 and use it quite often.
