Just uncheck it before you update. Zonealarm is one of the more secure freebies... Imho...

It was the first firewall I ever used and, frankly, I detested it.

Each to their own, though, ay?

I wouldn't swap Tiny Personal Firewall, now, for anything else.

Jetico's as good.  Boy, does it take some teaching, though...  Still, as one of the lesser known firewalls, it's less likely to be specifically targeted.

I always found ZA to be a resource hog, by the way.

I kept getting errors with it.

Tiny's got other protection, as well. (I have the "Pro" version.)

It's a bugger if you forget to disable it, when doing the Windoze Update thing.  Grin

As Linux becomes more popular, particularly amongst the business community, it'll get hit.

Bet on it.

the way that things install and run on linux, the only way to get seriously infected is by sheer stupidity.
The majority of linux users aren't that stupid, and the ones that are, well maybe they deserve it Wink j/k

I've been fiddling with a few distros, lately.

Puppy, Damned Small, Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu and a few others. I'm hoping to get a hard-drive caddy, sooner or later, to give them a proper run-through.

Personally i think there are still a few usability problems with Ubuntu, on the whole it is brilliant, so much so i've been using it for quite a while now and don't miss windows. I rarely use my windows partition too.
But if you want to install something that you have to compile then you need to follow instructions.
Admittedly most of the software is even easier to install than windows, but there are the odd few that may need the manual install.
