That's the thing with this type of mentality.  In their quest to do good, they can't understand that they're also doing harm... and that, sometimes, the harm they're doing is far worse than any good that can come out of it.

  Utter daftness.  Only got one child who was breast-fed.  (The others weren't through neccesity.)  Mind you, he is the only one who's probably going to go to Uni...

What about me? I couldn't breastfeed as she was born so early ... my milk wasn't ready for her plus she was drip fed for months.   
When she was ready for 'real' milk she 'had' to have powder stuff as she had to have premature baby suppliments at £12 a tin ... nothing else was good enough for her.  I bet the same happened to Taf and the twins.

Nope, my missus expressed milk for them every day to go down the feeding tubes... they only went onto formula at about 7 months of (real) age...

What a total load of bull hockey! Angry  Some folks can do it with ease, others can't.  No need to hide the alternative or make it even more expensive!  Not everyone can do that.  No need to make those that can't feel even worse. Angry  Grrrr.

I couldn't have said it better myself.  My niece couldn't breastfeed her first child because she had inverted nipples - why should she be penalised or made to feel like a second class citizen for something that is completely out of her control.  And even then, if the reason she didn't breastfeed was through choice - its her choice and her choice alone to make.
