Cardiff council is set to replace voucher parking in the city centre with pay-and-display meters from October.

Prices in some bays will rise from £1.20 for five hours to £4.50. The council said the scheme will make parking system easier for visitors.

Last month, two separate surveys found Cardiff was the least "car-friendly" place in the UK and had traffic problems that were "worse than London".

And in the meantime the council is moaning at NCP for massively raising it's parking charges in the city... and busfares are to rise yet AGAIN....

Plus they are going to pedestrianise a major city thoroughfare "to make it prettier"... but will still allow buses and taxis to use the road... hardly "pedestrian" just anti-car.... mainly because residents protested, and defeated, CPZs (Controlled Parking Zones ie making people pay to park where it has always been free to park).
