The Old Ones Are Best
Clothing Scam
«

5 leaflets pushed through the door in a week... all from different "charities... all requesting clothing, footwear, etc....but all have small print relating to Mantas Capital Ltd.
Vans, with this company name, but no phone number, with Polish number plates, cruise around picking up bags of clothing, shoes, etc.
All the "charity" registration numbers are false, and the charities themselves do not exist.
I am not alone in contacting the council and police about this. The authorities say that as soon as they stop this scam in one area, it reappears a little further away. The vans have been followed to country lanes where gangs sort the items into different bags and then disappear. The vehicles are untaxed and none of the drivers have valid licences for the UK, let alone insurance.
The DVLA say the vehicles are stolen to order and fitted with false Polish plates.
Clothing has been followed from donor to carboot sale.. and the cash vanishes, never to reach a single charity.

So do I. Most of my clothes would be rejected by charity shops, anyway.
