ps. forgot to say that when his firm went on short time (one week on , one week off) we were told to go to the jobcentre and sign on for the weeks that he was out of work..............er they wouldn`t pay us nothing because he was technically employed . Talk about going round and round in circles. I found that we filled in form after form about our income for nothing.
As my dad used to say " They want to know the ins and outs of Meg`s arse"

my doc, the county's doc and a consultant say I'm unfit for wrok.  dwp say that I am so no incapacity.  despite pay = £0 job is held open for me so no jobseekers' etc.  apparently the only possible option for me is incapacity.  slightly too many savings for means tested benifits.  (even then because of a sliding scale I'd get next to nothingfor quite a while)  and I've been told that using some of my savings to pay off a loan would be looked on with displeasure (done that to pay off the morgage anyway)  so it looks as if I'll just have to live on savings 'till I'm poor enough.


There's no incentive for people to try and be responsible and save up for a rainy day.

but why frown upon using savings to reduce debt and so reduce the interest paid on it?  Goes against the first principle of budgeting.  btw I only took the loan out in the first place rather than using capital as it was cheaper to pay interest on the loan than use savings.

There are other places to go to - CAB in high use areas have waiting lists and independent advisors are usually quicker to see

I agree Fred but they don't like incentive.

My Dad was fantastic with money, worked hard, paid oodles of tax, never had credit card or the like, never claimed a penny in benefits, saved hard for his retirement, didnt abuse services or think that anyone owed him anything etc etc. A few months after his death he paid out over £50,000 back, in inheritance tax. To say it pisses me off is an understatement

I really do hope you get all this ridiculous mess sorted out, it is so unfair
