i've noticed the food soar as well.. some moron was on the news earlier saying that the media is scare mongering and it isn't that bad..

Really? wanna come do my shopping with me.
i'm having to think much more carefully about what i buy than i did last year.

the price on decent bread is just insane, and we eat loads of it

Me, too.  And the supermarkets are raising the price of their cheaper goods, too.  Not the brand name stuff, that's already more expensive.  Meat and Fish are fast becoming luxury items for me.  Especially Fish.

Meat is going insane, and with my son having to avoid chicken (at least until the longer holidays so i can test it) it's getting harder to keep variety going.

I really wish I had somewhere to grow stuff, now.  Maybe keep a couple of chickens.

Not much.  The list is very full.  Too expensive to rent, also.

The tax system in this country is so crazy and opaque that it is hard as heck to know if you are paying enough and or receiving enough credits.

To really "lift people out of poverty" I reckon everyone should get a decent pre-tax allowance , taking poor earners out of tax altogether, instead of them paying tax, then getting some of it back dependant on circumstances.

Or to stop the "they're scrounging off my tax" brigade, make everyone pay tax, but start with a lowly 1% band with no pre-tax allowance.

PAYE should be the norm for employed people...
