Thats horrible - we were married there only 2 years ago and Colombo was peaceful (well as peaceful as it can get in the rush hour!) and we didn't feel threatened at all. I wouldn't go there now... Very Sad.

I've been a couple of times before the 'ceasefire' and the tourist areas were still safe, so I would go again you just have to avoid the North east and Colombo, it is such a shame as the locals on the whole are such good people.

Of course you know who caused the problems, us, we imported the Tamils from India originally to work on the Tea Plantations before this there were just the Sinalese on the Island
