My nephew reports to boot camp in June or July.   Undecided 

Part that scares me is that my son is talking about joining up as soon as he turns 18, in a year and a half.  Cry
He can't go anywhere til the summer of 2010, but that's still too soon.

Beamie, you have a year and a half to help him 'find himself' and choose a career that doesnt involve killing anyone or being on the receiving end...

One of my sons is a policeman, I'm not too happy as lowlife tend to see him as fair game but he has less chance of being shot at than my friends hubby! And he's usually bigger/stonger/fitter than them too! Your son could do worse - or be a fireman, they get the ladies.....  Roll Eyes

Joining the army isn't a problem.
Joining the army now is.

His plan, and I'll give him credit for having a plan at age 16, is to join the army.  Use the army money towards college when he gets out.  Go to school and then become a police officer.

I'm going to be listening to the presidential candidates very closely over the next 6 months.  The one that seems to have the best, legitimate, plan for getting out of Iraq/Afghanistan will get my vote.
