Head teachers should allow imams, rabbis and priests to offer religious instruction to pupils in all state schools, teachers' leaders have said.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/7311178.stm

Another crackpot idea... religion should be taken OUT of school completely AFAIC.

In this day and age, religion has no place in education.  If I want my children indoctrinated with a load of superstition, then I'll do it myself.  If they want to teach it, then prove it exists, first.

I doubt if your average Brit gives a stuff about other cultures.  Most of us go on foreign holidays, then spend all day in the pub.  laugh

Our twins were sent to a mosque... no warning to them or to us...  the only kids not to go were the muslims.... and when they got back they had to endure a whole day of "lessons" pushing islam as the best thing since sliced unleavened bread.

Then they had to go to a jewish temple... again no warning... followed by a whole day extolling the virtues of judaism... and going on-and-on-and-on-and-on about the holocaust. No jews in their school though... they're all in posh schools I suppose...

My daughter asked when the trip to visit satanists was.....

My kids don't get any single religion 'pushed' onto them, at the moment.  They're made aware of the various faiths they might encounter in the area, and left to their own devices what they think of it.  I don't mind that, so much, as this area could do with a little more tolerance.

It is in my mind, especially when it pounded into them... and the other victims are conveniently ignored.

It's a mandatory subject in schools now....

It's the only time in recent history, when a large, developed country, systematically tried to eradicate an entire race/faith of people.  I'd say it should be mandatory, lest we ever vote people like the Nazis into power in this country.  Judging by what I hear around me, we're not that far from doing it.

Several African countries have practiced genocide in recent times (and still are) plus there was that whole Turk/Armenian thing that still rumbles on.

The USA saw genocide-by-another-name with the local indigenous population too.

Not high on the curriculum though are they?

Jews are very good at screaming "FOUL!" anytime anyone does anything against them, then never forget to repeat that shout so that we feel sorry for them, and side with them in any argument. It's propaganda, as is the decision for schools to send pupils to concentration camps to "feel the terror, then report back to their schoolmates".

Same as, so Emma would like to visit different temples etc... she would find it interesting (and its a break from the classroom).

Edited to add ... Where we live 95% of the people are white.  Emma's school are all white children apart from a handful of West Indian children who all speak perfect brummie  laugh

What like forcing children to do PE, School Swimming Lessons, History, and other lessons that are pointless (well to me anyway).
It won't happen round by me anyway ... no-one reads the Koran  laugh
