Reading Taf's comment yesterday, about his neighbour's car insurance, reminded me of this. Alan's insurance was due last month. So he rang Saga to arrange it, been with them 4/5 years. He was told it MIGHT be cheaper to renew online. Checked it out, but no, only cheaper online if you are a new customer.
That's loyalty for you, i don't think.

They save money by online-buying, but only the first time as they don't have to pay a person to talk to you. After that renewal is more-or-less automatic......

Loyalty doesn't exist any more, so I shop around every year for the best deal....

I cancel all insurances over the phone, then take them out again online ... saves money as I get the extra online incentive each time.

My insurance gets cheaper if I just let it auto-renew.  My company gives a loyalty discount that, I think, increases by 2-5% a year or so up to maybe 15%.  Of course, I also get one accident forgiven (no rate increase for a fender bender), a safe driver discount (tell 'em I make everyone wear a seatbelt or car seat, which I do), and a multi-policy discount for having my house insured with them. laugh We've a company over here, Geico, that advertises it can save you up to 15% on your car insurance...nice try, but with Allstate I pay less than half of what I did with Geico.  I'd hate to think of paying more than Geico!

A long time ago I got a quote from Geico and it came in higher than what we were currently paying and then they still tried to convince me I should switch!  Angry
