UK workers 'get least paid leave'

The UK is set to stay at the bottom of the league for holiday entitlement in the European Union even after a rise to 28 days in April 2009, a survey warns.

A change in EU rules means the UK will have to stop counting its eight public holidays towards the EU 20-day minimum.

And still many employers contractually DEMAND that workers work the day before and after a Bank Holiday in order to get pay for it.... a sly tactic that is spreading fast....  Plus many employers do not pay Bank Holidays in the first year of employment despite this being technically illegal.

My BIL has to work Bank Holidays as his company isn't British and so don't recognice the bank holiday, they make the workers work like a normal day.

My FIL HAS to save 3 or 4 of his holiday days for Christmas, so cutting down on time during the year.  Plus he doesn't get paid sick days.

hubby has to take 1 weeks of his holiday to cover christmas i think.. 

i think the factory/unit closes for that week, but they don't get paid for it, unless they take it as a weeks hols

Andy works it ... he doens't mind going into work inbetween crimbo and new year ... gets him away from all the new noisy toys and he can sit at work being paid to surf the net in the peace and quiet !!
He only has the Japanese & UK Stock Market to look after as they are the only ones still at work over crimbo ... the other countries shut down anyway.
