Had to say goodnight to Flossy, this afternoon.

Awww kat, I'm truly sorry to hear that
Hardest thing I've ever done and I've done this kinda thing way too many times.
But, her heart was going, her kidneys went ages ago and her liver was bad. Vet said that she had three weeks, tops, and she'd get a lot of pain, towards the end.
When my turn comes, I hope they're allowed to do the humane thing. Silly, how it's considered humane, with other animals, yet not humans, innit?
At least Floss knew she was loved. :)
(((())))
So sad, I'm not looking forward to losing ours. :'(
It's funny... It was my decision and I just hated myself for making it. But, given what I mentioned, I think I did the right thing. You know how cats can get under your skin? Flossy got WAY deeper. Just looking around the house and garden, so many things are Flossy's. Boxes, blanket thingies, toys, igloos and all sorts of things.
We want to get another one, quite soon, coz Tomas is going to spend his whole time trying to find Floss and he's going to pine like crazy. As our vet knows Tomas well, we asked her, coz you usually leave it a few weeks, don't you? She thinks getting another little girl, PDQ, would be for the best.
As the local animal sanctuary has an open-day, bit of a do, on Sunday, we'll go and take a look. Not with the intention of actually getting a cat... But, knowing the tricks they get up to, in order to get you to say "Oh, I'd better take this one, now..." we might end up with one. :)
At the moment, of course, we just feel numb. I keep thinking "Did I really have the right to make that decision?" and I doubt I'll ever know the answer.
One incredible kitty, was Flossum... If it's real, they're having one ding-dong of a party, about now, at the Rainbow Bridge. :)
*hugs*

You saved Flossie from inevitable pain. That has to be a plus.
Last I heard RSPCA were demanding a minimum donation of £50 for allowing me to re home a dog. I was going to do them a favour. I told the salaried functionary in the large, newly built office block that the RSPCA seemed to have changed from a society looking after animals to a society looking after itself.
Ta, Lissy. :)
Yeah, they want fifty quid, for a cat. But, that includes them having their jabs, being done and microchipping. So, it's not quite so bad. Got to pay their staff and pay for vans and the associated MOT, repairs and crap.
I prefer local sanctuaries, myself, though. Ours is in a beautiful setting, too, right by the Bridgewater. They're chronically short of funds, of course. So, we'll slip them a few quid.
So sorry to hear that, Kat. :hug2:
Ta, Iz.
I'm happy that she's not hurting. But, I don't half miss her.
Aww, sorry to hear this, Kat.
Ta, matey.
If anyone within reach has the temerity to say "It was just a cat", I'll lump 'em one.
So sorry, been there myself a fair few times xxxxx and it's never "just a cat. Fish. Dog. Bird etc" it's a beloved pet .
We have rehomed two of our past dogs, last one almost 18yrs ago and they charged 70 pounds at the animal shelter . I paid it no problem. He was chipped, castrated , wormed and vaccinated. I think it also shows commitment to the animal.
P'S. K@ , she was a beauty and obviously well loved. You did the final kindness for her.
Ta, El. :)
I don't think the guilt will ever leave me, no matter how right I think it was, along with Jane and Claire (Our vet).
She and her nurse were in tears, too, funnily enough.
This helped me when I lost my best boy xx

's good, that, ta.
I succumbed, in the end, coz I thought it better to go, when she did, whilst she was still a happy little girl. The deed was done in her little den, in the garden, with the smells she knew so well. Thankfully, the weather did us a favour.
It's odd. Like when people go, I s'pose. It's hit home just how much of our daily lives was dedicated to her amd there's a huge hole, there. Tomas keeps looking for her, coz he thinks he's lost her.
I think the little lad (LITTLE?!?!?) is gonna need some TLC.
We'd like to present our new kitty, who is named, provisionally, Suki. :)

Can't see the pic, but how's she settling in?
It's a Flash video, Iz.
She's taken over, as kittens often do. She wants all our attention and she wants it NOW! :)
Tomas is getting used to her, now. He's shown her who's boss and she's shown him where his tail is and why he ought not to wave it about. ;)
Can't either, coz tablets and phones don't do flash.
But I'm glad she is being accepted

She's become Lulu.
As she had the squits, it was based on LooLoo... ;)

Looks very comfy next to the remote :D
She seems to know how to use it, too... ::)
She's very cute!
Our vet's fallen in love with her... :)
Seems some breeder might've let his prize Bengal get out and it got doinked by some moggy. Lulu has a lot of Bengal in her, right down to being constantly chatting to us.
It's rather sweet. :)
I thought we might be wasting the money... but, we got one of those cat activity centres, from B&M and she hasn't stopped playing with it!
A bit late, Kat, but sorry to hear about Flossie :hug2:
Lulu looks sweet, hope she is getting on with Tomas OK :-*
Tommy's been an absolute angel, with her. :)
Naturally, she's taken over, though. When she has a poo, the whole world knows about it, coz it STINKS! She's a bundle of energy, so she needs a lot of playing with and Tommy kinda rolls his eyes and joins in, now.
The house looks a tip, with toys everywhere! There's a notice, now, on our front door.

And this is her on her activity centre (Which I thought might be a waste of money, but she loves it!).

So cute
Got her a harness (Not had her booster jabs, yet, and we're not sure she's responding to being called, 100%), so she could have her first back garden adventure, yesterday. For the first couple of seconds, she did the "WTF is this around me?" thing. Literally for seconds, though.
Then, Tomas came to kinda supervise and she tried to catch every flying insect, waving blade of grass and all that stuff. Did lots of sniffing around, like they do. We're a bit worried, coz she thinks everything/everyone is her best friend, at the moment. I guess she'll learn... Hope the lesson, when it comes, isn't too awful, for her. Tomas'll look after her, I'm sure. Still gonna be scary for her, though. Scary for us, too, no doubt. :-\
You sound just like a new parent!
I guess I am, in many ways. :)
A child can't run as fast as she does...
Great fun, though!
Tell you something that I find quite amazing...
Lulu knows how to let me know that she wants me to play with her. More specifically, that she wants me to use the laser pen, for her to chase.
Smarty pants!
Way too clever for her own good, this one. :)
At a recent visit to the vet, Claire said "OMG! She's HUGE! She's only five months old and she's bigger than most adult cats! You're going to have fun, with this one..."
I just said "Yep, we already are..."
:)
OK. Lulu does some weird things. I mean, I've shared my life with loads of cats and they're all weird, in some way. But...
Lulu leans against things, as a matter of course. Walls, legs, &c.
She can leap six feet up into the air, from sitting, and turn lights on/off (Fortunately, we don't have lever door handles).
I'll add others, as I think of them. But, she really is odd, this one.
Her favourite games, are bedworming (Like the giant worms of Dune, but under the bedspread), "Let's whack the kitty on the head" and "Let's whack the kitty up the bum", which involves whacking her with one of those sticks with a fluffy tail attached.
She's really not right, this one... :)
