Had to say goodnight to Flossy, this afternoon.

Hardest thing I've ever done and I've done this kinda thing way too many times.

But, her heart was going, her kidneys went ages ago and her liver was bad. Vet said that she had three weeks, tops, and she'd get a lot of pain, towards the end.

When my turn comes, I hope they're allowed to do the humane thing. Silly, how it's considered humane, with other animals, yet not humans, innit?

At least Floss knew she was loved. :)

Gym?  Thought you said Gin.

So sad, I'm not looking forward to losing ours.  :'(

It's funny... It was my decision and I just hated myself for making it. But, given what I mentioned, I think I did the right thing. You know how cats can get under your skin? Flossy got WAY deeper. Just looking around the house and garden, so many things are Flossy's. Boxes, blanket thingies, toys, igloos and all sorts of things.

We want to get another one, quite soon, coz Tomas is going to spend his whole time trying to find Floss and he's going to pine like crazy. As our vet knows Tomas well, we asked her, coz you usually leave it a few weeks, don't you? She thinks getting another little girl, PDQ, would be for the best.

As the local animal sanctuary has an open-day, bit of a do, on Sunday, we'll go and take a look. Not with the intention of actually getting a cat... But, knowing the tricks they get up to, in order to get you to say "Oh, I'd better take this one, now..." we might end up with one. :)

At the moment, of course, we just feel numb. I keep thinking "Did I really have the right to make that decision?" and I doubt I'll ever know the answer.

One incredible kitty, was Flossum... If it's real, they're having one ding-dong of a party, about now, at the Rainbow Bridge. :)

You saved Flossie from inevitable pain.  That has to be a plus.

Last I heard RSPCA were demanding a minimum donation of £50 for allowing me to re home a dog.  I was going to do them a favour.  I told the salaried functionary in the large, newly built office block that the RSPCA seemed to have changed from a society looking after animals to a society looking after itself.

Ta, Lissy. :)

Yeah, they want fifty quid, for a cat. But, that includes them having their jabs, being done and microchipping. So, it's not quite so bad. Got to pay their staff and pay for vans and the associated MOT, repairs and crap.

I prefer local sanctuaries, myself, though. Ours is in a beautiful setting, too, right by the Bridgewater. They're chronically short of funds, of course. So, we'll slip them a few quid.

I would love to become a professional whistler. I'm pretty amazing at it now, but I wanna get, like, even better... and make my living out of it.

If anyone within reach has the temerity to say "It was just a cat", I'll lump 'em one.

So sorry, been there myself a fair few times xxxxx and it's never "just a cat. Fish. Dog.  Bird etc" it's a beloved pet .
We have rehomed two of our past dogs, last one almost 18yrs ago and they charged 70 pounds at the animal shelter . I paid it no problem. He was chipped, castrated , wormed and vaccinated. I think it also shows commitment to the animal.
P'S. K@ , she was a beauty and obviously well loved. You did the final kindness for her.

Ta, El. :)

I don't think the guilt will ever leave me, no matter how right I think it was, along with Jane and Claire (Our vet).

She and her nurse were in tears, too, funnily enough.
