Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.

The chainsaw has at last stopped.

An ice cream man comes around about 5pm every day and seems to be doing a roaring trade.

A garden party a few doors up started around 6pm. It got louder and louder as the females got tipsy, then a bit of quiet until the blokes got plastered. Around 10pm the arguments started and guests drifted away.

Soggy kids running back from the first day of school in the rain with no coats.

And their mothers shouting "You've got to wear that for the rest of the week! Those shoes are brand new! You get muck on that top and you'll be going to school naked tomorrow!"

I wondered why I hadn't heard a local's loud exhaust for a while now. A mate told me this morning that the car was impounded after failing a police-DVSA noise check, then it failed the MOT test in several major ways.
