dad's sky+ box is playing up.  I phoned them and it seemed that a replacement box was not on the agenda, only an upgrade. to HD+ more channels. (He has SD and more channels he'll never watch) +£6 a month and a 'free' box and more channels he'll never watch.  Self install.  new box there in two days.  Guess who got the job?  Destructions have pages on how to connect router (not supplied) and at one point screen said invalid viewer card call ************* .

Kit and kaboodle designed to get peeps to sign up for extras.

Jumped the hurdles

By passed the router connection bumph

The new interface has sent him in a tail spin.

He's of a generation who saw electricity connected to his village for the first time.

It took months to get him confident to select progs to record and even now I routinely have to run through the listings through to 2 a.m. the same day to schedule them for recording for him

Gym?  Thought you said Gin.

Sounds like my Mum with the DVD recorder, I bought her one years ago which she never mastered, switched it over with my old one last Christmas which is easier and she is managing that one so far

The missus still has problems using the HD box, so she would have no idea how to use the TIVO.

I won't have Sky, out of principle.

I thank God HoN is tech savvy. I don't have a clue when it comes to connecting anything to the internet. He is my gofer for all computer based stuff. I only know how to operate things, not how to install them. Back in the day, the companies did that for you. Not doing it is just poor service! >:(
