spam calls
« on: September 04, 2016, 17:33:12 PM »
I'm registered with the TPS

I'm afraid I was rather rude to a caller who went through her spiel and asked if she could ask me some questions.

My reply was No, this number is registered with the TPS for a reason.

caller claimed that the numbers they had bought were not registered.

I was less polite when correcting her
I jumped off a bridge in Paris.

They told me I was in seine

With TPS but still get them . Was sick of telling them not to call again. Fed up of bloody Imran calling and saying his name was Dave  ::). I used to be nice and friendly. Not now. I answer then leave the phone on the coffee table till the are fed up. Brother winds them up terribly and enjoys every minute of it  he agrees to buy everything then hangs up when it comes to his details

I haven't had a Spam call for ages, thankfully. The last one was from "Microsoft's Windows department". I had quite a bit of phun, with that one. ;)

I usually just say that their call has been recorded and that as the call is highly illegal, they would be reported.

They get very apologetic, then, and vanish rather quickly.

Latest ones are to do with compensation for cavity wall insulation.  Fed up of them. They are also canvassing on the street. The last one actually got in to the womans house across the street and only shifted when her husband came in and lied that they were renting. Im sure I read somewhere that if you invite a cold caller into your home that you have only yourself to blame costhey are there to make a sale. But you have a cooling off period.  Seems to me that it's better not to let them in anyhow.
Brother is inundated with calls cos he enquired about damp problems due to insulation.

I just say something like "Really? Let's be honest, here. You're a lying, scamming bastard and you're breaking the law, by calling a number registered with the TPS, aren't you?".

They simply hang up.

Funny, though...
