Dumb... it got worse. :-\ Probably because it's nearly 6pm here and so peak traffic.

Not too bad, as I'm currently downing three huge files.
Upload speed should be half my download speed, though.
/me goes to give Pipex a slap.
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/789827357.png) (http://www.speedtest.net)
Not many fast users here ???
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/789872356.png) (http://www.speedtest.net)
I WAS downloading loadsa stuff, Taf.
I usually get the full 8meg.
Not that that's very quick, but it's the fastest our rural line will take.
Oddly enough, the lines in Southend could only deliver six and that was on a good day.
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/789990745.png) (http://www.speedtest.net)
At this time of the day I think it's pretty good. I off Friday so it will be interesting to see what it is during day time which is supposed to be quicker
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/792246074.png) (http://www.speedtest.net)
i doubt i'd get that speed when it's not midnight on a weekend.
Recently got an upgrade from 2MB/s to 6 MB/s and had a program called TCPOptimizer fiddle with my registry, because i hardly got more than 2MB/s.

Yes, pretty impressive. But it is lunch time...so the server may not be too loaded down.

quite an upgrade. In Berlin i only had ~6mb/s
My mate in Singapore has 250 down, 50 up :-\
And he's on the cheapest tariff :o
His TV connected to the net supplies TV (and on demand films and older programmes), radio, home shopping, online gaming, internet access, home security and banking, phone, teleconferencing with the family and friends, and probably a myriad other things he hasn't discovered yet.
He also has a free mobile phone for each family member (free calls, texts and internet access at all times) that were part of the package.
He won't tell me how much in case I get jealous.

Still getting better here, although why they think the Newbury server is my nearest and within 50 miles is beyond me....
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/1338069673.png) (http://www.speedtest.net)
just complained to BT, my connection speed has collapsed over the last week from 17 - 18Mb to about 3Mb
Updated from last year (which was 19.57 download and 4.50 upload):
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/1345037835.png) (http://www.speedtest.net)
Why it connected to Sayreville (over 50 miles away) instead of Philadelphia (25 miles away) I don't know. Odd.
That's better, I think BT have just fixed mine after my complaint as my router switched itself off about 15 mins ago and then restarted itself, just tested and got
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/1345429138.png) (http://www.speedtest.net)
Facebook is crawling and other sites slow too - seems to be since I scanned for spyware earlier today.
So I just tried a speed test:
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/1428374413.png) (http://www.speedtest.net)
Any idea why it's so slow, then?
I understand that FB is undergoing updates... and the net is crawling due to kiddies being home on wet days.
Maybe plod's scanning everything?
[Francis Urquhart mode]
I couldn't possibly comment ::)
I thought mine had been slow recently too so...

poor old me on the 3mb/s

pfft
i'm not playing anymore.
hope we get inifinity here!
Actually, that was when HoN unplugged the dongle and plugged me into his broadband connection directly.....
Here's what I get when using the dongle:
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/2316400489.png) (http://www.speedtest.net)
:sigh: Guess who's buying herself a new dongle! HoN says to consider the ASUS USB N53..... Anyone got any better ideas??
That'll be due to all the encryption going on.... and why I don't go wireless.
We've bought a 5m Ethernet cable. Should do the trick. Until we move, anyway!

:yess: WOOHOO!
currently upto 22meg..
has potential to reach 80 the engineer said....... :o
84 on a wired pc
Wired is so much faster as there isn't all that mod/demod happening.
I knows, but I've got no more space on my router for more wires, so somethings will have to remain wireless
usual
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/2542959789.png) (http://www.speedtest.net)

You can plug another router into any of the first routers outputs.
I've got Infinity coming to my exchange in the next year
we're already over loaded with wires/plugs/crap in the general area of pc connections
it's not vital anyway, even if the wireless devices can't reach the 80meg speed, they still have an improvement
Free speed doubling has just happened. My PC still doesn't like uploading though :-\

Has the house got a pigeon loft for fast messaging? ;)
I would take those figures with a pinch of salt. That site says I'm getting a download speed of 8Mb/s, when I'm actually getting 12 and above.
Seems to be fast enough to cope with BBC iplayer. On lower bandwidth, mind :-\
Manages Netflix, too...but not when we both want to watch it... :sigh:
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/2902229309.png) (http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/2902229309)

(http://www.speedtest.net/result/3189347172.png) (http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3189347172)
I wouldn't trust those figures, at all. That says my down speed's only 8Mb/s and it's way more than that. :)
Either way once the upgrade is done I'll still be comparing apples with apples, because it will be old connection vs new connection.
After VDSL upgrade
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/3189805212.png) (http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3189805212)
Can't complain about that. ;D
Bit of a bugger that upload speeds are so slow, innit?
Mine always used to be half my download speed. But, it's much less, now. :(
That's heaps faster than I've ever had it before. I'm pretty happy with it. :)
Just ran it again on our wired connection:
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/3191798422.png) (http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3191798422)
Wired roolz! :)
Our upgrade to Broadband Infinity (promised by end March 2014) can't come fast enough.
Round here, most people are elderly and there are few broadband customers. Trying to get any signal can be a chore at times. Last night I could not get the speed test site to load at all. This morning I have carried out a shutdown/restart, cleared my cookies, cache and history and finally got it to load. :sigh:

Oh, this was over Wi-Fi too - we don't have anything connected by Ethernet anymore.
Faster than 87% of NZ - take that NZ!
Wouldn't downloading a file and seeing the speed that it comes down at be a better guide? Unless the site you're getting the file from strangles it's speeds, of course.
Just wonderin'...
Single thread download tests aren't that accurate I have been told.
I tend to use FlashGet, which has multiple threads. :)
Just got my free speed upgrade
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/6722206196.png)
I'm still waiting for my 'up to 52M' from BT. Seems that they have work to do outside the house
1mB is "Up to", me ol' china.
Cheeky basstaaads.
Just changed over to the new deal £9 cheaper, no change in speed though.
