Title: A simple kettle
Post by: Tâf on January 18, 2019, 16:02:35 PM
We need a new stovetop/hob kettle.

I chased around the internet (ASDA, Morrisons, Sainsburys, Wilkinsons, The Range, Tesco, Homebase.

Then around all the possible shops in the city centre.

The only 3 I found were in Kitchens (£110), Lakeland (£50 but out of stock) and John Lewis (£40, but out of stock, plus it says it is 2 litres but you can only put 0.8 litres of water into it).

Ebay has only one model and it has a folding handle which looks dangerous.

Are they becoming extinct? ???

Plenty around here at the local hardware store .  Whistler cost me less than £10 last Oct.

The lad doesn't do whistlers, he forgets to open the spout....  :-\

I've been pointed to wayfair.com, and they have a few at last.  :cheerl: :cheerl: :cheerl:

I had mine from argos about a year ago
Only cost me about 15.

Not buying electric again. Breaks too easily

I have both in case of failure.
A le creuset conical 2L stove top that is nice and light with a choice of whistle or not and a sage smart tea kettle that has been going for three years no problems.

Whistlers.  :-\

I dived a bit deeper into ebay and found one, it's a whistler, but the whistle flap opens by gravity.

I dived a bit deeper into ebay and found one, it's a whistler, but the whistle flap opens by gravity.

I found the same one in an ethnic shop this afternoon, 30% more expensive. Made in China, metal so thin you could distort it easily, and it has a floppy, foldable handle.  :-\

5 other ethnic shops had exactly the same ones, but even more expensive.

Time to hit wayfair.com....

The missus said yes to this one, £20 cheaper than everywhere else.
