Wouldn't downloading a file and seeing the speed that it comes down at be a better guide? Unless the site you're getting the file from strangles it's speeds, of course.

Single thread download tests aren't that accurate I have been told.

I tend to use FlashGet, which has multiple threads. :)

That site is no longer valid for decent tests. It gives me half speeds  (100/10).

This one gives me 212/18 which is what I pay for.
