I've started to look for a replacement car. There's a nice Dacia Sandero estate and a Dacia Logan MCV that look interesting. Both at the main Renault dealership.

I've looked into scrapping the car. 2 places online have offered £285 with free collection, but a phone one won't go above £200 with collection charged at £85 (the guy had very Irish accent).

I put a deposit on a car. Now I just have to see it, test drive and make my decision.

I was going to scrap the Skoda for £285, but put it on gumtree for parts at £600. 2 guys are interested, and they say they can make it roadworthy, so will come to see it tomorrow.

One cancelled, the other didn't turn up. 

But I had put the car's details on a Skoda fansite, and after saying I was going to scrap it, I got a very quick reply from a guy who will send a mech to check it over, and make me an offer for parts.

A Polish mechanic appeared just after 11 am. He spent almost an hour checking the car. All wheels off, engine diagnostics, the whole shebang.

He called the guy who wants it for parts, he offered me £750, I accepted, and the money appeared in my bank account just now. That's 15% of what I paid for it 22 years ago!

I emptied it of all my stuff and handed over both keys.

The mech has arranged for it to be taken away, and has completed the V5c paperwork.

Now all I have to do is inspect and test drive the Logan tomorrow, and decide if I want it.
