As I replaced the cleaned and greased battery clamp on the car, a 13mm socket and extension fell off the ratchet and slid out of sight along the engine underbay cover. It took a bit of wiggling with my collection of neodymium magnets to snare them and get them out.

Receive a delivery, then wander to Aldi for bread.

Drop Pol off at her clinic, then take the missus to the GP for a blood test. LIdl and Asda after that.

When we got back, there was a call from the hospital to get the missus there tomorrow for "10 minutes to measure her eyes ready for the 25th".

"What's happening on the 25th?" I asked.

"Her first cataract op, obviously the paperwork hasn't arrived yet".
