I had a short nap, and it did the trick.

I had a short lie-in, but got bored as usual.

In early September, several locals attended a meeting about Resident Parking Permits.

The first thing they were told was "Resident Parking Schemes will not be installed in areas where a majority of properties benefit from off‐street parking".

Only a tiny handful of homes do not have "off-street parking", and those that are still Council Houses will have off-road parking installed "soon".

But last Thursday we all got letters stating that work to make the area Resident Parking Only will start shortly. This change of rules was made after input from the Emergency and Sanitation Services, after their vehicles were often blocked by excess parked cars.

Only 2 passes are available per home, and there are several homes here where they have 4 cars!

A few who have multiple cars went door-to-door to ask people to sign a petition demanding that the scheme not be implemented. They also demanded that pavement parking not require a parking permit. They had very little success.

We all know that once the restrictions are in place, the problem parking will just move further away, snarling up the whole area again. But the council already has plans to extend the area further, and further, and further.

The problem is mostly caused by Uni students parking here, and a notice put up in the main building has already caused panic amongst the students.

Watch out for the creeping charges, we have resident parking, but they brought in a charge for permits this year

The letter says it's £20 for the first permit per year, £30 for the second, but their official website says £35 for the first, £90 for the second!!! And Visitor Permits are £30 per 850 hours (only useable via a smartphone app).

I was woken by a call from the Currys' gas fitter to say he was 10 minutes away!

Mad panic ensued to get ready..... but at least we now have the new hob installed.

I was about to leave the local Lidl when I heard a loud squeal of brakes and a few car horns. I looked out of the window to see a tatty white car racing off after obviously ignoring the temporary traffic lights.

I walked to my car in the car park under the shop, and noticed a large white mark on the rear offside of my car. As I quickly inspected the damage, 2 women came over and told me that a woman in a white car had hit mine, got out to see what she had done, got back into her car, shot forward hitting it again, then drove off at a rapid pace.

I asked what the driver looked like and one of the ladies said she didn't want to be considered "racist", the other agreed with her and they walked off. ???

Luckily, the white mess on my car was white emulsion paint! It washed-off easily, but there are several scrape marks in my car's bodywork. No cameras in the car park.

I woke, rolled-over and had a lie-in.  :bed:

Despite the lie-in, I needed a short nap after lunch.  :bed:

I was woken before dawn by the sound of someone knocking on a door, but it wasn't on our door.

The next thing I knew, it was students yakking outside about a party they were organising for the coming weekend.

No sign of the binmen yet. ???

The binmen turned up around noon, but left half the street untouched, as the truck was full. It took 2 hours before thy returned.

I was just about to take a nap when they returned, making a racket.
