A letter from Trading Standards stating that they have the garage's insurers on the case of my Skoda.

They are recommending a full refund of the service costs at both the occasion when the damage was done and the final one when the damage was discovered. Also the full cost of the changed front disk, caliper, pads and brake fluid. And as the parts are not available to do the repairs, the full agreed insured value of the car at £1000, and a payment to cover "all other costs and losses".

Let's see if they pay up promptly or drag out the case.

Notification from Trading Standards and the garage insurers that they have come to an agreed settlement in my case. I will shortly receive the insurer's offer.

#220
Recorded delivery from the garage insurers.

One page of legalise.

One page of their calculations based on the bills they have seen, with a total at the bottom that seemed a little skimpy.

Then a page to sign and return. They will make the refund to my credit card.

I reread it all, then realised I hadn't read the back of the calculation sheet. £250 for "alternate travel arrangements" and £250 for "personal distress" plus 20% VAT refund. BINGO!

Almost half of what I paid to replace the Skoda!

Result!
