Contractors started hammering at 8:15 again, and I couldn't drop off after that.

OK slept better last night

The police helicopter arrived around 3am and hovered nearby for about half an hour. Lots of blue lights racing past during that time. I dropped off, but the twins were active very early as they are going into town for a burger and a film.

Someone was hammering at 8:20 this morning. Once awake I just lay there for about half an hour and eventually got up.

I woke with a start just after 4, and it took ages to drop off again. I eventually gave up trying to sleep and got up.

I tried for a nap, no luck.

A neighbour asked if "the bang" woke me at 4:10. It was a drunk driver who hit a parked car and moved it 2 doors away! Petrol and oil everywhere, but no-one thought to call the emergency services until hours later. The driver had already legged-it, stinking of booze.

Pol told me at bedtime that she wanted me to take her to an early hospital appointment.

I was woken by the alarm clock after a great sleep.

The first wave of binmen didn't wake me. No sign of the second lot to collect the green bags, which is odd.

Had a disturbed night

I was woken several times by ambulance sirens on the main road.
