The garage can't source parts for my car, so I'll be trading it in at some point ...... IF it passes the MOT test today.

The garage boss said he would call me around 1pm. No call, so I called him. He said they would check and  get back to me in 5 minutes. That was over an hour ago.

 :grumpy:

Just had bodyshop on the phone and they are collecting the car tomorrow

Tâf

No call from the garage at all, and at 4pm it went straight to an answer machine that said they were closed.

I set the heating to come on at 7am, but over 2 hours later it's only 17.5c in here and the kitchen. :cold:

Still no call from the garage, and their answering machine is still full.  :grumpy:

The garage called at 9am.

Their computer went down Monday afternoon, and that meant no contact numbers, no phone system, and not being able to log MOT results.

They had to send cars off-site for MOT tests, to a guy known for being very finicky, so much so that he would fail a brand-new car.

Mine failed on things they don't actually believe, and parts are unavailable. That means scrap value only.

27 years old, so it had a good run.

Tired, didn't sleep well, even though the car is now in the biodyshop kept thinking of it

Whilst I waited for the car to be brought out, one of their mechs told me that the company was in severe trouble.

Their pneumatic wheel nut tool had been serviced and set far too high in torque. A formal complaint was raised by a customer who was told that all 4 wheelhubs had stripped threads just a couple of days after having a service with them.

Trading standards got involved, and they had all vehicles that had wheel nuts refitted during servicing recalled for inspection. None were OK, so the compensation bill will be enormous. The company that had serviced the tool closed last summer, so the company insurance is invalid.

My car was near the end of the list, but the secretary "forgot" to contact me.

Whilst waiting for the MOT test, they decided to do the service, so instead of a MOT fail at £54.85, I got a bill for £154.67!!

:grumpy:

But as I was about to leave, the boss came out and told me of the damage that was done, not only to the rear hubs, but to the brand-new ones they fitted this time last year!! He gave me a report and claim pack for their insurance company, but then told me that replacement parts are not available!
