The binmen, a day late due to part two of a strike, woke me at 7 as they threw the green bags into piles. The next thing I knew it was almost 10 and the rain was hammering down.

I went to bed before midnight, and didn't wake until almost midday.  :bed:

Tired, fireworks until 1.30 then some idiot started again at 4.30

It was quiet here. No-one in the streets, and very few fireworks, even from the usual suspects. I was in bed just a couple of minutes after midnight.

A short nap this afternoon turned into just a lie-down.

I didn't want to get out of bed.  :bed:

I was woken by the binmen just after 6, then by a car horn not long after 7. I got bored and got up.

Only half the black bin was emptied. The council say "Tough".  :grumpy:

There have been mutterings about reducing the frequency of collections. Oddly, only a tiny area of Cardiff still uses black bin bags. The whole waste thing has been green-washed to meet Arsembly targets, but certain groups refuse to play ball, even when threatened with fines for not recycling. And to ACTUALLY fine them would cause cries of "RACIST!"

The list of things we can recycle has dropped yet again, and you'd never know unless you check their website. You are only allowed "one bootful" per visit, dropping the rear seats to make more space will have that load refused. And the number of times a year you can visit has been dropped yet again.

I just had a look at the council website. They have introduced something new. PAY AS YOU THROW. An extra collection of black bags, that start at £20 for 5, then goes up £4 a bag to a maximum of 20 bags for £80.
