Since Tesco started repeat prescriptions, the system has been that we are given a date for collection by the pharmacy, collect, then mark the repeat form for the items we needed the next time, and were given a date for next collection.

The Tesco staff have been getting hell from many when the surgery does not process the repeats on time.

So from next month, we have to request a repeat directly with the surgery, Tesco will collect the scripts, and 2 days later we collect the items. But the repeats can only be done by posting them through the surgery letterbox, as they STILL haven't signed up for the online system, That's 7 years of waiting. And they are the only one in the whole city.

For 5 years, a large and growing number of people on our street have been sending anniversary messages to the council about the yellow-painted marks on the pavement denoting where tree root damage has lifted and cracked the tarmac pavements.

Today I watched a guy remarking the area around the huge tree outside our home, and I've just had an email from the council to say that pavement repairs are scheduled for this autumn.

But any roots that are higher than the pavement level will be left until arborists inspect and decide the fate of the trees.

At last they decide to do something!!

The lad has suffered from a sore stomach and shortness of breath for ages. Without explanation, the GP gave him a PPI and antacid solution to take after meals.

But it has stayed the same, so the lad went to the ER yesterday. They checked his records and saw no problems with a blood sample he had a while ago, not any sign of blood in his stool. But they had the idea that telling him that he has a small stomach ulcer would calm his fears.

It must have worked as he got up early to take his PPI, then went back to bed and is still asleep 4 hours later.

I woke far too early but dropped into light sleep easily.

I woke a few times to see a strange light on top of a cupboard. It turns out to be my head torch that defaults to "on" when the batteries are almost dead.
